Located in a small villiage in Turkmenistan, in the middle of the Karakuma Desert, this fire pit is fueled by natural gas.
The pit has been quietly burning since 1971 after the ground collapsed beneath a Soviet drilling rig and it was decided it would be best to burn off the gas.
